Bishop Sammy Gitonga

Dr. Bishop Sammy is the founder of Remnant Ministries International. The bishop responded to the call of God to establish a ministry in Pretoria, South Africa. This was an incredible challenge for him to take, however by the grace of God it became possible. His dream is to labour to hand down spiritual, material, and financial blessings to those coming behind us.

We believe that man is a multi-dimensional creature and therefore his need for survival is multi-faceted. The church has for a long time emphasized on the spiritual aspect of the human being and to a great extent neglected the social and economical side of man. This has resulted to the church producing spiritual giants and economical dwarfs. Our understanding therefore is that we have to leave a legacy, for a good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.

The Bishop shared his vision and met astonishing responds, sometimes scepticism. Some thought he will grow out of it. But God lead him to meet other Christian brothers like Pastor Roelie who helped him carry the vision.

The first church service took place at 224 Hotel in Arcadia (1999). For five consecutive services, the Bishop was alone. After months of prayer and fasting, members increased from two to five, ten, and twenty. Persistence paid off. Later in 2004 the Dirk van Hoff building was rented with more than 70 members. That was one of the most significant and memorable day in his life. When the City of Pretoria heard of this young, God fearing Pastor, they all came.

Today RMI is proud to say it has 3000-4000 members, two services on Sunday, with more than 30 visitors per service. The church base consists of intellectuals, high ranking government Directors, Doctors, Students, Professionals and Business Tycoons who are spiritual soldiers. We successfully host National and International speakers in our church, Apostle Ababu (Kenya), Pastor Martin (SA), Evangelist Ralekholela (SA), Dr Lloyd Benson (USA),  Dr Lloyd Benson from USA,  Dr. Handel Leslie from Uganda, Bishop Eddie Long from USA, Dr. Creflo Dollar from USA, and Tudor Bismark  from Jabula Ministries, Zimbabwe. RMI is a home of South African Award winning Gospel Artists such as Keke, Rebecca Malope, Pastor Benjamin Dube, Sechaba, and King of kwaito Mandoza for AIDS awareness. We even have actresses in the local soapy: Muvhango. We thank God Almighty for the growth of the church and we believe that more is yet to come.
